Your own number may be lower. Many US companies also close on the Friday after Thanksgiving, and in 2025 a US executive order added December 24 and 26 as federal holidays. As of early November no such order had been announced for 2026. In Pakistan, December 26 is a holiday for Christian employees only.

How to count work days yourself
You can check any date range in three steps:
- Count the days between the two dates. Our date calculator does this; tick “Include the end date” if both days count.
- Take out the weekends. Each full week has 2 weekend days. November 2 to December 31 is 60 days: 8 full weeks (16 weekend days) plus Monday to Thursday of the last week. 60 − 16 = 44 weekdays.
- Take out public holidays that fall on a weekday. For the US that is 3 days, so 44 − 3 = 41.
How to use the days you have left
- List what must be done by December 31. Big projects, reports, invoices, renewals. Put a work-day estimate next to each one.
- Plan backwards from Friday, December 18. For most offices it is the last full week before Christmas. After that, people go on leave and replies slow down.
- Mark your clients’ holidays, not just yours. If you work with US clients from Pakistan or the UK, Thanksgiving week and Christmas week will be quiet on their side.
- Send invoices early. Accounts teams often close their books or go on leave in late December. Invoices sent by mid-December are more likely to be paid before the year ends.
- Track your hours. With 352 working hours left at most, it helps to see where they actually go each week.
- Book your own time off now. Taking the days around a holiday gives a longer break for fewer leave days.
